Ever since I was a child I have always been fascinated with seeing how thing work. I would dismantle and reassemble objects like computers, engine parts, and toys to see how they work, or just to see if I can fix whatever needed to be fixed. When I started attending Hamilton High School, I took mechanical engineering all four years and was on the robotics team. I eventually got bored of basic engineering and wanted to know more like, how does this robot or computer work? What made it tick?
I wanted to start with embedded systems but, being fresh out of high school, working three jobs. I really did not have time to tinker and the equipment was just so expensive, let alone trying to get parts, to actually try and build something. Thus How I found the love of programming. With that being said working three jobs and trying to go to school; I did not have time to do anything.
couple of years after high school, I found this program called Year Up, whom paid from me to go to college and teach me programming. They also got me my first internship at US Foods working Help Desk and IT. The Year Up program is six months of fast paced learning and development. Then another six months of internship, while still going to school at night. Year Up also helped me get my Toastmaster certification for public speaking. After I graduated from the Year Up program US Foods hired me but did not want me to continue my education.
Not to long after I ended up coming to the University of Advancing Technology (UAT). Where I am currently a Advance Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Major. I love programming because one, is constantly learning something new ever single day or within every project one is working on. With that being said, I have a strong passion programming, teamwork, knowledge at the end of the day. I was taught to never work for money, work for knowledge and do something you love. I love programming and help the community to close the opportunity divide.
